Hey guys,
Im missing the internet so much, its too expensive here, just scrounging some time of mates card.
the montain race is on saturday, really tough course 9km with 990m of climb! gonna be pain.
Training at altitude is quite tough but just about acclimatized now. Living in international altitude training town, and or apartment is 50m away from Lance Armstrongs training aparment, 150 away from Italian walking team aparment.
Awesome scenery, hiked up my highest hill 3303m, and my mate iain nearly died (4 times) on the mountain, he thoght climbing a rock face would be fun. 'Scotia, Scotia Scotia (echoing), ge ge get the re re rescue services!'
Ate raw taties, for being a jobby head last night.

i trained at altitude for 3 weeks in 1998 (montana, rocky mountains) and it was amazing. came back to europe and was just eating up the terrain.

hello all. my first post on nope, i am looking at it a lot now as i sit in front of a computer all day! this altitude training thing is cool, i'm hoping to maybe do a bit. I am in la palma (canary islands) for those who weren't aware and i'm here for a year on my degree.
whether i will actually do any consistent training here remains to be seen, i'm still settling in.
it would be cool to burst back into the o scene next year after some hot and high hill running behind me tho.

mate, get your ass in gear and up those mountains. you are sitting for a year in one of the best training locations in the world. you should come back a beast. i would reccomend getting a bike of some sort, either mountain or perhaps even better a road bike. you could do some serious damage over there mate. do some long hill climbs on a bike - its knackering but worth it for the full on 65km/hr downhills that you get as a reward! you could be an absolute machine by the time you get back!

yeah, we shall see. i wanna get my mountain bike out here, but maybe roadbike could be good. from the sea level office/my flat, it is 38km with 2400m climb to the observatory on the top which i go to quite regularly. we'll see, it could be a winner!
i heard you were gonna be striking back into the elite o side of things next year?
i am still not sure if doing top level amounts of training is for me though so we'll see. the biking and a few runs do appeal a bit though.

sorry rocky, missed your post there! i was busy typing bens reply.
there was rumour that i may have some friends over for some running, there is only a couple of points:
i'm not sure how much running there is yet, i'm yet to find out. i think there are a lot of walkers trails around. you have to stick to them cause its so steep and crumbly here that you might die being 'adventurous'.
i get very little holiday so i would have to run in evenings after work. then again if i'm not doing much running then one run will be plenty a day, nay maybe a walk!
i'll be around the message board, we'll see
