Final details are now up on the moravianorienteering.org website.
Pre-entries close on Saturday night, although cash in hand entries can be accepted in person at the 11 person relay or SOL this weekend. After that it will be just turn up on the day before 1.30.
I test ran the B course yesterday and despite planning it etc I was stil unable to go anywhere near maximum speed, didn't get all the best routes, and started to set off down completely the wrong alley at one point.

Re: Scottish Sprint Championships
Eddie - The Moray Active Schools Team have been hard at work pushing the event round their schools. With the Forres Schools champs happening last week, and the Lossie champs today, we have 150 kids who have experienced the sport for the first time. Hopefully we'll see a handful of them plus families for the 'public' races straight after the champs.
Any Nopesporters out there who are planning on coming, please remember that there are some great races for the kids too, and the more 'regular' juniors we have at the event the better it looks for the newcomers pitching up at these champs. Just a pity we're not the most convenient place to get to!

This event certainly lived up to expectations - our family all thoroughly enjoyed it. Great area, and great weather too - it was well worth the trip north. Many thanks to Moravian.

Re: Scottish Sprint Championships
Thanks to everyone who supported the race. We were fairly happy with the numbers who attended, given that this was the most northerly of orienteering outposts. Thanks particularly to those members of FVO, ESC, RR etc who made the effort to travel so far. Hopefully the event at Anagach on Sunday made it doubly worthwhile.
Our local press reporter certainly had his eyes opened (he was still out on the mens open course as we held the prize giving) but he managed to have a chat with quite a few competitors afterwards. We're waiting with baited breath to see what appears in Friday's Northern Scot (!). If it's fit for release to the general orienteering public we'll try to get a copy of it on the Moravian web site.
Chatting to a few notable absentees after the Anagach event, there still seems to be an aversion to sprint O amongst quite a few diehards who "don't do sprinting". I didn't see a lot of folk sprinting around Boyd Anderson Drive! It sees to me that areas like this, which demand very careful navigation, are perfect for the older age classes as you get the technicality without the physicality. Our two M & W 75s really enjoyed themselves.
If we are to have any success in attracting the wider runnng public, local orienteers must be prepared to support these sort of events in their area that put the sport in the public eye. The more people that take part the more attention the sport gets and the more attractive it becomes. Comments that have come back from residents in the estate were really positive - they seemed delighted to have such an event in their midst and had great fun watching runners going in all directions (and trying to give the odd helpful hint here and there). The cheerful banter from many of the competitors has really enhanced our image in the area, particulary with the lady in the deck chair by control 57 (the penultimate one on the B course). We look forward to another event in there sometime soon and thanks to everyone for entering in to the spirit of it all.

Lossiemouth police are currently searching for a bearded M55 with an incredible ability to fix SI problems, wanted on charges of assault.
