Spam posts appear to be getting a lot worse on Nopesport at present. Hopefully, the administrators will find a way to limit them, as they're becoming a bit of a pain and some are extremely pornographic and offensive. I'd favour new accounts not being able to initiate a new thread for a probationary period.
Anyway, there is something that we can do as the administrators cannot delete the posts unless they know about them. To the right of the Quote button at the top right of a post is a ! in an inverted triangle. Pressing this allows users to report a post to the administrators. I report every one that I see, but wonder how many others are doing this, as I rarely receive a message that a post has previously been reported.

Re: Spam on Nopesport
I do it regularly but have often got an "already reported" response.
As far as I'm aware, you need to view the SPAM before you can report it. Some are so obviously SPAM that they can be reported without viewing them but this doesn't seem to be possible. I often decide not to look at an obvious SPAM to enable me to report it as I don't want anything offensive to pop up on my screen. Can the administrators offer any other solutions to reporting without viewing?
Anyway, thanks for highlighting how to do this as some may not be aware of the possibility.
And yes, the SPAM level in the last day or two is so high as to begin to render the discussion forum unusable.

If the administrators aren't continually checking for inappropriate postings to delete, why not give removal rights to a few trusted regulars who can do the job for them?

Eddie, why the 'Confused' icon?
Most of the current crop of spams were posted yesterday before 8:00 BST, so if Gordon had logged on after 10:00 (LTU Summer Time) he could have removed them before most of us in the UK had even had breakfast.
Unless of course you're questioning his eligibility as a 'trusted regular'!!!

Is it not possible to block the name RKDavid - I notice that it is there again and it seems to keep on posting spam.
I realise it will then probably appear under another name but live in hope that the problem can be either solved or at least reduced - otherwise soon we will have no-one posting on nopesport

Re: Spam on Nopesport
I would guess that this forum site has now been well circulated amongst 'spammers' across the net as an easy score.
Is there a ratings system amongst spammers for the most strikes or hits - (akin to a internet league for 'spammers').
Unless security is enhanced to prevent such posts, this level of 'spamming' and the offensive and illegal content is only going to escalate and will drive 'orienteers' new and old away from the site as people will self-censor by not visiting/posting
I don't know if a 'select' group of members to vet posts would be a good or a bad thing re censorship in principle. Is there a complaints system in the event a wayward 'censor' decided to unilaterally remove a legitimate post

Re: Spam on Nopesport
There is one thing all members starting a new post can do ensure that there is no possibility that the title of the post could be misunderstood -allowing us to edit out the spam easily.
And all memebers can avoid looking at the obvious spam so as not to give them any currency

Possibly the slowest Orienteer in the NE but maybe above average at 114kg

Obviously not, as he's just posted again. I also thought that the Administrators would cancel accounts of the spam posters.

While we have this problem, perhaps Oentries should reconsider the phraseology of their advert on the forum page.

Unrenesep appears to be another regular who has appeared again - can he be blocked!!
Admittedly only pills but still not what this forum is supposed to be about
Also not sure if Chris Park is 'proper' but do not intend to open 'just in case'

Surely you have to open them to see the offensive content? As far as I can tell it's usually easy to spot what new posting is spam and not open it. Just like you don't read, but instead immediately delete all e-mails offering you the enhancement of all sorts of bodily extremities, asking you to support Nigerian scams, etc., etc.
With the nopesport forums, the admins have been very good in the past at removing spam posts and good on them, especially as they are quick at dealing with innovative ways of spamming. To all those of you complaining here about removal of spam not being quick enough, try to remember that these people have their own lives and jobs and might have actually been away from a computer for the Bank Holiday weekend (orienteering or training maybe?) and not had a chance to delete the spam...
So don't open the obvious spam messages and ignore them, the admins will undoubtedly deal with them as soon as they see them.
