I see Jon Duncan finished a good 4th in the last Mountain Running Grand Prix Event in Norway (71:07). (15th Aug)
Notably the winner, despite the winter conditions, was Kenyan Jon Sombol (69:55) who beat world number one Jon Wyatt (70:00) into second.
The Kenyans tried out in mountain running some years ago as I remember but made heavy weather of it.
Sombol's win followed up a GP win by Geoffrey Ndung'u in Austria the previous weekend.
But in Norway, Jon beat Sammy Kirui into 5th by over a minute.

Re: JD Mountain Running
Nice! Skåla Opp is tough, over 1800m ascent in 8km with the last 1km or so consisting mainly of huge boulders. Amazing views if it's a nice day. But with those times seems like those guys weren't looking at the views

Re: JD Mountain Running
Even though it was a nice day when I did it in 2005, I didn't manage to look at the views (or at least, not until after the finish - which is at the top of the mountain). I'm not sure whether the altitude had anything to do with it, but I think that's about the only time I've actually felt dizzy while running, which as harry implies, isn't good over the last km or so.
Running/sliding down the snowfields on the way back down was fun though - there really should also be a Skåla Opp and Dooon!
