What a cracking Scottish!

I just wanted to make sure that in all the discussions on run-in times, scoring systems and other minutiae, the main message for me from the week wasn't lost:

What a cracking week's orienteering!

I only did 4 days out of 6, but they were massively enjoyable. All the key stuff was great(maps, courses, parking, assembly, commentary) plus the weather as a bonus. And they made it all look so easy - I never saw anyone running around fixing last minute issues, as is often the case elsewhere.

I'm sure others will find something to niggle about somewhere, but on the whole brilliant fun and an advertisement for orienteering. Well done to everybody.

Agreed - the truncation after the event of a number of courses on day 5 due to control description errors was the only real blemish I saw.

Congratulations, 6 day Company and the many volunteers from Scotland and further afield.

I have to confess that I thought that Perthshire would not come up to the mark because of undergrowth. As it happens undergrowth was possibly less significant than on an average 6 day. As usual the best thing of all was the contrast between days - as big as ever this year and the whole thing was brilliant even though I couldn't run a step.

Quite how the weather was so good this year I cannot imagine - makes me feel even sorrier for the Welsh last year.

Hopefully Oban will not suffer too much from undergrowth... although I remember planning BOC at Creag Mhic in May & there were some problems with bracken then.

I have to confess that I thought that Perthshire would not come up to the mark because of undergrowth...

Perhaps a trivial point - unfortunately missed in Donald Grassie's closing speech on Day 6 - is that we weren't just in Perthshire.

We had a day in Fife (albeit the NE extremity!), and for the first time ever, the 6 Days visited Angus (Day 5 Barry Buddon). This gives the local clubs TAY and KFO an opportunity to try to capitalise on the raised profile of orienteering Tay 2009 has provided for these areas. We'll be working to do just that.

As an organiser of a recent major event I would like to add my congratulations to the organisers of this year's Scottish 6 day. I appreciate just how much effort went in by all concerned to make it seem such a smooth transition from day to day. Look forward to hearing what really went on behind the scenes!

The highlight for me was the contrast between areas - every day was so different and no area was disappointing. Great stuff and even a top half finish for a change

Although I didn't go, I have been really immpressed with the speed the results have been available online - its been really good to see how well members of my local club have been doing!

Thoroughly agree. 5 quite superb and varied areas. Even Kintoul was interesting. Excellent organisation, parking and assemblies. Good planning and super maps. Thanks for all the hard work. Well done to all involved.

I absolutely agree with all the positives mentioned above. There have been some stonking Six Days in the past but this is top of my list. We visited some beautiful parts of Perthshire and beyond, ran on varied terrain which had been well planned to avoid rubbish and the loo queues moved apace - thankyou to everyone who played a role in the week.

Point to note for Oban 2011 - I've spent the day trying to book accommodation and it's already getting tricky to find self-catering so don't hang about if you intend going!

it was an awesome week - particularly loved the map and planning at Barry Buddon (even if I was even more rubbish than usual that day) what a great area/map /course: definitely added to my list of all time favourite areas.

cracking weekend. Thought that Loch Ordie was a bit tough for the tired and slightly sleep-deprived (nailed 1+2, then jogged the rest as was pooped) at the end of the week, but really enjoyed my first multiday experiance! Especially the rain at Tullochroisk and geting into the startbox 20seconds before I started - timing!
I even got sunburnt, and there weren't too many midges!
