Re: CANNOCK CHASE FUNGUS
Presumably this is posing a major headache to the organisers of BOC2010 which is listed as being on Cannock Chase - Abrahams Valley & Wolseley Park - in May 2010. Not sure if the authorities would be too pleased to have so many of us charging across the Chase even if the the event does not enter any designated 'restricted area' - not good PR. And who's to say the area won't be enlarged suddenly just before the event - not good for us!

You can run anywhere on Forestry Comission land (unless you are running competitively in BOC or the Midland Champs, so need to avoid east of Sherbrook Valley and Beaudesert which are currently embargoed), but need to stay to the main paths on County Council land - Brocton & Milford, Oldacre, Brindley, Hednesford, Satnall Hills.
Dogs to be kept on a short lead at all times (should be, anyway - it's a bylaw of the Chase).
Foot washes are provided in all car parks for after you have been out to stop you contaminating your garden.
As far as I'm told, Forestry are 110% sure BOC won't be affected...

Oh, that's all right then

I would be delighted if all goes ahead according to current plans but I would just like to be reassured that someone has identified the need for a contingency plan.

I presume going through those areas with an O map on a bike isn't a problem?

I am sure others more expert than me will reply but the following will presumably be the applicable rules:
Rule 1.5.5 Any search for the competition course or inspection of the competition area before the race is forbidden.
Rule 3.1.2 At Level 3 Events and above, competitors shall declare themselves noncompetitive if their acquaintance with the terrain would give them substantial advantage over other competitors. Nothing that occurred more than 24 months before the date of the event shall be taken into account.

If it's embargoed then going through with an O map should not be done....
