Sounds interesting and from the feedback from those who took part last year good fun as well.
But, is there any chance of cutting the time between 1st and 2nd parts? Is there anything for the 8-12 year old range? (not clear from the details)

Re: Sprint event with Micr-O - this SUN (14th Dec)
Since 2nd part is a chasing sprint, it wouldn't really be possible to set off earlier. The courses have been designed for head-to-head racing, and parts of them are visible from the assembly/spectator area, so it wouldn't be too great to have others running round beforehand. The reason there is a gap is to give us time to sort out results, apply penalties, people to ask questions regarding the afternoon event, ponder their mistakes (if any) in the Micr-O, and watch the kids race.
If the 8-12 year olds are regular un-aided Yellow competitors then they should be OK on the Orange. It probably isn't much above a Yellow course and I bet there will be harder Yellows set this year. It is a tiny wood so they shouldn't go too far astray (unlike at, say, Delamere).

This was a great event. The morning race was in a small but very nice wood with a tricky micro-o section at the end. The afternoon had butterfly loops, a fenced maze and normal street/park o. Great fun, well done to all involved.
I'd rather be orienteering in a Scottish Forest.
