Have no fear Andrew. This weekend SLOW have their OK Nuts Trophy, so they can't be in 2 places at once

Re: London City Race
Except of course that the London race is on a Saturday and OK Nuts on a Sunday so there would have been a temporal displacement between the two. Perhaps the bemused tourists to which Carnage Head refers are actually orienteers turning up for the event either a week early or a day late.
Entries close today by the way.

Yes I did... I wondered what to call it as I wrote it on Sunday night. Even if I wrote it today, would it be correct to call it 'next weekend' (rather than 'the weekend after next')? I thought that using 'next weekend' to refer to the one coming up in six or fewer days provides potential confusion with the term 'this weekend'. Anyway, perhaps I should have said 'the weekend of 11-12 October'...
And whenever it is, I will probably look confused anyway!
PS Thanks for being the quiz king on Saturday!

Well it looks like even th controller thinks it's on sunday
anyway - hoping the start times and assembly details (and social?) will be up soon so we can plan our weekend in detail.
I spent last Saturday checking control sites for the City of London Orienteering Race on October 12th.

The embarassed Controller has now updated this.
Latest news is that the Organisers, Planner and Controller met last night to finalise arrangements. Start and Finish are now confirmed in a spectacular modern amphitheatre. Final details should be up on the website soon.

Great to see so many non-orienteers on the start lists (at least 56 if my counting is correct). Are there any plans to follow up their participation?

My son is probably one of those - his last 'O' outing was on a string course - this kind of event appeals to him much more than forest orienteering ever did.

Oh I wish I'd been able to enter just looking at the multimap it's all around where I used to work. Mind I bet a lot has changed, I know Liverpool Street Station has. Will that be OOB or can competitors sneak through?
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

Yes interesting. Younger morph jr said the same thing.
Guess one of the things that convinced me that orienteering was THE thing was the challenge of the open space, the remoteness, you know, sort of an active hippie thing.
Today's generation do have a different perspective, and urban adventure is a much stronger part of the culture.
There's no doubt in my mind that this autumn's fantastic urban events will do more for participation and membership than any of the 'classic' events. And hopefully by keeping up the momentum the majority are hooked, and become hooked to all things 'O'.
