What have discussions on the Forums helped achieve over the past five years?
Apart from upsetting a few planners/controllers/officials and spreading (mis)information about a variety of things, I think a lot of good has come from the forums.
Some obvious ones off the top of my head:
- Growth of urban races - changing the perception that these are just for low key, local scene, small scale street races round some local estate to that of a proper orienteering challenge on newly mapped towns and cities across the country.
- British Orienteering Communications - Have improved greatly over the past few years, to the point that people get upset when things aren't reported on quickly enough! (Whether or not this is a fair complaint to have can be taken elsewhere thanks).
Please throw in your thoughts on how these boards has helped improve the sport, things have changed a lot since this all started off and I do think the boards have played quite a large part - if only in spreading the reach of ideas and information.
