Unfortunately only half the field are being tracked on TracTrac, which means only Jamie of our 4. I hope Oli in particular gets a great result, after his disappointment in the Middle.

Only being used on final 23 runners in each class... so not working yet:) Also GSM coverage in the forest is not good so there will be a lot of time delay in positional update... column at right gives delay in seconds since last change.

TracTrac now working so you can have a look at the courses. The map is not dissimilar to parts of the Chilterns, although the hills are a bit bigger. The courses have a lot of climb to start with and then a flatter greener loop at the end to catch people out. Men and Women both have a mega long leg across the map. I could envisage every single runner taking a different route there are so many possible options of paths to join up and hills to avoid.

Should be an entertaining morning.

trac trac is working (you might need to reload the page to get the link) and is being used for the first starter on each course (Arama and Morrison)

serious route choice leg for both courses - Arama going way south to stay out of the valleys, think i'd be tempted by the road run to the north... (which the men seem to be doing on the second leg as well)

The map reminds me of White Downs, and the easy bits of Leith Hill.

What do you reckon for mens leg 16? Through the village on the north edge? Or back past 8, 6 and the run-out from the start?!

If it's anything like the forests we've trained it it's a whole lot more runnable than that! I wish I was out there! In fact anywhere where there was orienteering right now!

But yup, good start from Sarah, and Oli seems to be going pretty well too! Go go go guys!

I was originally thinking North but then you have to climb back up at the other end, Morrison is going South at the moment, probably best way

what's the estimated winning time? if the guys so far are going through 15 in 76 as fastest, they ain't getting near 90!

The women's course is 11.9 km with 440 m climb with a planned winning time of 77 minutes. The men run 17.3 km with 750 m climb, estimated winning time 98 minutes.

Strong run from Sarah, finishes with a big lead. Hope not too many go faster and she gets a good result...
