Great atmosphere at the race yesterday. Fast furious racing especially in the Chase. In the Men's open two huge trains of runners grouped up. Little Rob gained by moving from 18th to 9th by outsprinting the rest! A second train behind this one had even more runners. All exciting stuff Thanks to JOK for another great event. Shame I made such a hash of the Chase, but then it's down to pressure of having otheres on your tail, and I cracked big time

Thanks to both JOK and TVOC for an excellent weeked.
It was nice to see so many entries for both events - also nice to see such a variety of ages from very young (Rollins junior) to M79 and also many juniors running in both events and many doing night legs.

I would also like to thank TVOC for putting on a good Harvester. No technical problems to my kowledge and the organising Club also managed to put out a good team themselves coming second on the A. just wish I had not fallen over in the nettles on my way to the last control my hands are still tingeling...

Missed all the action but analysis of the race graphs is fascinating. Must have been really exciting. Particularly liked Andy Preston who moved from 21st prologue to 4th on the chase and Matt Halliday who went from 23rd on prologue to 3rd on the chase and overall position 10th!! Isn't Matt a 1st year M18?

Matt is a first year 18 and has just been selected in the British Junior Team, good to see him continuing his great form!

Besides those already mentioned, I thought two outstanding runs were Neil Northrop in the prologue and Katrin Harding in the junior chase. Neil did quicker mins/km than GG's winning run in the 2005 UK Cup middle race in Bloom Wood. Katrin was about a minute quicker than I expected anyone to do her course, and on her own for most of it after overtaking Jackie Hallett early on.

We would welcome feedback on whether combining the Chasing Sprint with the Harvester was a good idea. From JOK's point of view it worked well, with a good entry and some synergies from holding the two events in conjunction, and it is something we might consider doing again.

Holding the two events together I think should be sound I know in the past I would of apreciated in and it should help all together with the traveling. I am not so sure things would be so good had we been on the traditional harvester mid sumer time finding a braken free area has been problematic in the past, finding two such areas may be pushing it. Personaly I had to make the desision as to which event to do as I am strugeling to run once every other day let alone 3 times in 12 hours...

Looks like a couple of American PhDs in there to me... No JOK team, but note that most of the A class teams seem to have JOK members in them running for their "proper" clubs.

Only one of them (Miss Crocker) - and given that she's only been orienteering for eighteen months I'm not sure she counts as a ringer. The others are all genuine honest-to-goodness undergrads
