I don't want to hear anyone from anywhere near Bristol complaining about having to come up to the Inverness area .
I would definitely try to get into these races. I was talking to the planner of the British Elite Champs Middle Distance race, due to be held on Culbin, at the weekend. He says it is just amazing, mostly just moss on the floor of pine forested sand dunes, and the course length dictates that there is no need to go into the "shabby" bits of Culbin (do they exist?!).
What are my chances of geting a run in the British Elites

well ben while were still students, you may as well make the most of it!
I totally agree with ewan though, surely as one of the premiere races of the british season, people should be excited and un-complaining about the distances to travel, to what must be some of the best areas in the UK. Imagine if you lived in Inverness, last w/e down to the lakes 6/7hrs? down to Bristol for the 0007 10hrs or more? Us english have it easy with the travelling, put some effort in for your sport, and support what will no doubt be a quality w/e.
As far as exams are concerned....i ain't got none..

I am not complaining about traveling I just don't want to book my flight and then not get a run.
EasyJet are opening up all sorts of possibilities. This will be five flights I have booked with them. Three of which will of been to Scotland and I am driving up for the Scotish Champs as well.
I sent my entry off last night. Am I the first to enter???

i illicitly trained on culbin 3 yrs back (i borrowed base maps of off someone - you know who you are, cheers for that).
there was 3 inches of snow on the ground. all the marshes were frozen. it was 3 days after new year. me and a swedish lass.
it was one of the most perfect training sessions ever.
i cant wait to do these races. i've bought my flights already.

yeah culbin is fantastic, despite living at the west end of it I've never run on an orienteering map in there (unless you count the incredibly small section which is part of the nairn east beach map) so am really looking forward to getting out o-ing in there.
eventwise i'm not sure if it's is a closed event, there's a SOL on the saturday (which will have M21L courses hence the hooha over typical SOL runners not getting the chance to get any SOL points) and a colour coded on the sunday.

it is a closed event, at least it's meant to be. i'm sure they won't mind extra entries if they have less than their quota. I think the start block may be completely different to the SOL and it definitely will be different to the colour coded on the sunday.
SOL points may well be awarded for both M21L and M21E, we don't know yet. if it was to happen the (elegible) winners of both classes would get 1000 points each.
