A topic that has generated much debate over the past 10 days, following the use of routegadget at a fun charity event at LP, abbreviation used for reasons that will become clear, prompted me to check the risk of a non orienteering member of the public stumbling on our comments.
Google "LP" and "Orienteering" and we are on page 1, position 2.
Google "LP" and we are on page 3.
Worrying to say the least, for the reasons stated so well in the topic by Lizi Bee. I remember an EPOC event a few years ago where a disgruntled member of the public took the trouble to find the EPOC forum and start posting some negative comments, let's avoid a repeat.
Every new post in that thread will maintain it's Google placing, or boost it. Most have had their say now so please can we resist the temptation to post more in that topic.
If a discussion is needed on mapping/uncrossable symbols/compulsory controls, all interesting stuff, please start a separate topic.
Google is very powerful in highlighting issues. Perhaps we can learn something from this and use it to boost the image of our sport when there is a positive story or event.

That's partly why I made my post a few minutes ago. If you read this first, please don't correct the final impression I've given.

Google "E Park, Orienteering" instead of E use the place where the relays will be.
Nopesport thread on the disclaimer is top of page 1.
Just lucky no-one has been critical of the estate owner yet, hope it stays that way (as it should) as there are many looking forward to the event.

Google **-BOF-levy-proposal-** and you get the fourth/fifth? paragraph from my posting. What an intelligent and appropriately selective genius it is!!!

Although you get a different selection if you type "British Orienteering levy proposal"!

For a real laugh try Urban Orienteering (UK pages only), skip the Nopesport threads and have a look at the GMPTE one.
Still think Google is intelligent?
