ShuOC Sprint Eccleshall
Just wanted to say a big thankyou to everyone involved in the Chasing Spring organisation on Saturday. The weather was gruesome but the Yorkshire Squaddies and accompanying oldies thoroughly enjoyed the courses..once you were wet you were wet, and running around was warmer than sitting in the car watching the temperature plummet. Lots of helpers stood for a long time in open, windswept, sleet swept, saturated fields and it was much appreciated.

I second that, I apologise for keeping them out a little longer than they may have wished, as I went out on second part and had two major catastophies. Soup was very welcome and cakes very good, shame the weather prevented any socialising
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

The results are now online, with Winsplits and Splitsbrowser links. Sorry for the slight delay - it was a very busy weekend, and it took me a while to dry out (not just cold water
). The ShUOC organising team led by Andy and Mat did a great job in such adverse conditions - it was a pleasure to help them out with the computing.

Not quite up with the Simonside BOC for weather but still an event that won't be forgotten for a while. Despite walking round much of the chase trying to protect a dodgy calf I greatly enjoyed the event. Interesting that there was proportionally a much greater drop-out between prologue and chase on the ladies' courses than on the mens'. A lower endurance theshold or just greater common sense?
Some M21 colleagues commented on how accurate the map was, particularly the thickets. I'm afraid it was too much of a blur for my M45 eyes, even at moderate pace. A shame really since Oli had obviously put a lot of work into the map that I suspect was wasted on many of us.

Yes my old eyes struggled with the fineness of the map detail, not assisted by the condensation on my glasses! But the vegetation was always right when I needed it.
Thoroughly enjoyable event despite my DQ on the prologue -missing out a control less than 100m from the previous one, despite running right by it.
