We tried Slimbridge a week or so ago. Exclusively booked one night, full the other, so unless they've had a cancellation, doesn't look too hopeful. Other local hostels all full too (surprise, surprise).
There's a big Forestry Commission campsite at Christchurch, which is within easy access for all 3 days. Depends on transport.

ah....Soudley Hall's pretty good as village halls go, the kitchens reasonably equipped I think, the main gym is a bit cold to sleep in but there's a much smaller warmer room which is nice. Got punchbags and an old stereo too (tape only). But then youve probably already been there....just trying to be helpful....

I haven't been there . . .it's a random find from many desperate emails to tourist offices begging for anything that could accomodate some orienteers . . . I had envisioned all of Shuoc having to sleep in my car and that wouldn't be comfortable! Thanks for the info though . . .glad that we have somewhere relatively nice to sleep

no probs...the only thing i would say is that there really isnt much room in the 'warm' room, probably only enough space for about 8-10 comfortably, but there is always the big gym for those with good sleeping bags

oh and theres an typical FoD orienteering area literally just on the doorstep....if you have a map of Soudley and Blakeney hill woods the village hall is actually on the north of the map, and there is a path into the woods from the car park
