You southerners diarise Sep 9 now
I nearly put this post before our event this weekend, but now it must be official. When we have a SOL in the Highlands England gets their wettest and coldest weekends of the year, but the SOL is fine. So you may want to book your cheap flight to Aberdeen now for MAROC's SOL in an area I've never heared of (presumably new).

For those of you who are involved in junior orienteering, don't forget this is the Peter Palmer relays weekend so have a think before booking your flights!:D
No details as yet, but it's supposed to be on Longmoor, organised by BAOC.

I've seen the preliminary details for this Years Peter Palmer Relays (am I allowed to post them up in full Allan F?) and it looks/sounds wicked. Based at Longmoor Army Camp where the Harvester was some years back - accomodation, food, showers, football pitch, etc. all very close. Lovely runnable forest, lots of detail and paths for the young uns, open areas too if you get out that far.Entries will be via ntrees eventually.... So PLEASE keep this date free if you are a Junior! This is the BIG team event of the year and you need to be there. Start hassling your club Captains now to start organising a team. Book that minibus! You wont regret it.

Longmoor 6 hours (typical military training area!)
Fungle 3 hours (presumably typical scottish forest)
I know which gets my vote.
It is about timne the BSOC realised there is life north of Watford Gap!!!

Who or what on earth is or are the BSOC?

And I know which would get mine if I was a junior; having been many times as a coach/manager, it's one of the best fixtures on the calendar.

NO junior in their right mind would miss the PP's it is certainly the highlight of the year for Harlequins, there is more than O they make a full weekend by adding bowling, swimming etc. Usually there are one or two who have not done much mainstream O but they always come back afterwards. Sadly my kids are now too old but maybe I can go as a coach!

Awk, I'm guessing BSOC is a typo for BAOC, and I'm sure they realise there is life further north, but the West Mids contingent are certainly looking forward to a trip into Hampshire!
How much climb?!

For the second time in three years BAOC step in to host the Peter Palmer Relays when no other club would do it. And all they get is criticism.
Any moaning northener should go and ask their club committee why they aren't hosting it themselves.

For future reference please can you clarify what you define as a moan? All but one posts so far have just been asking where it is so we can go or saying how popular the event is with juniors.
The only post that could be taken as a moan was from a BAOC member.

Thanks anyway to BAOC for taking this on and I hope people do take your suggestion about other clubs holiding it.

good points DM. HOC/Wmids clubs have been hosting on alternate years and there has been a request for clubs to take it on, in other years so yes there are many clubs up north so why don't they get together and put it on in two years time. Baoc have been the only takers so far so they should not be criticised and they have made a great job of it too.
