After answering Becks' call about training i thought about what peoples favourite training tunes are?
So i guess some of you run to music as training. What songs you listen to?
I tend to listen to a carefully selected selection that is different to my usual taste. I have songs which motivate me , "fire tunes". Also tend to have some slower rock ballards towards the end.
Some of my fire tunes....
One Vision - Queen (the greatest fire tune! always first with the live 1 min build up! people convert to the ways, have One Vision!)
Holding out for a hero - Forgotten now
Cast - Alright
Lair Liar - Castaways
Grease is the word - Grease (sorry!)
Breed - Nirvana
Head long - Queen
A kind of magic - Queen
A thousand trees - Sterophonics
Some slower tunes
Aint no sunshine - Bill withers
Dignity - Bob Dylan
Fools gold - stone roses
Meat Loaf - I'd lie for you and that's the truth
Broken Stones - Paul Weller
That will do for now i think ive gone far enough.
I will admit to having Simply The Best by Tina Turner towards the end of a 45 minute tape when i was 16. Used to be the 2nd last song before i finished! Sad! No comments on this please.... Long time ago... etc....
What your tunes then?

Tunes I normally take with me on a run:
Bomfunk MCs - Freestyler
Ash - Angel Interceptor
Beverly Hills Cop Theme (Trance Remix)
Europe - Final Countdown
The Getaway People - There She Goes
Garbage - Tornado
Paul Oakenfold - Ready Steady Go
Pretty much anything from the Rocky 4 soundtrack

Hey!
Not proud of my running tunes. But i like them to run to and that's final.
Everyone has the right to a taste in music and everyone has the right to take the piss out of that taste!
Nice of you to put some of your songs down jene. Maybe we should have a poll for who has teh worst taste!

Speaking of running with no music. It is meant to be bad for you as the best thing to do is to emulate the conditions of competition. IE no music and run mid morning.
Bit like they say that listening to music whilst revising is bad!

You can't beat a bit of Carmina Burana by Orief! Classical all the way. On the rock side how about Blur - Song 2, Chemical Brothers - Hey boy, hey girl, anything by the Prodigy, and a bit of Fat Boy Slim!
Light travels faster than sound - thats why people look intelligent before they speak!

what do all you folks who run with music listen to it on cos everyone run's(jogs slower than i walk) in oxford with CD players which they try to hold flat and end up looking amusing? I personally don't cos I'm not sure how safe it is not to be able to hear what's going on around you (traffic etc.) but do sing to myself if that counts

I use MP3 or equivilent player no skipping and small. Can be trickier than you think to find one with a clip.
And singing does count!!! Share the song/s!

Depends on the type of run, although ive given up listening to music in traiing due to my rubbish anti shock.
Slow runs -
Bob Marley THE ONE AND ONLY
Aggressive runs/fast runs -
ANything fast obviously!
good examples ive used are NOFX, Floggin Molly, Sex Pistols, The Hives and Mars Volta - all sweet runnin - to bands.
These are just my preferences as the noble art of real punk is a dying breed
