another classic is eminems last album, the eminem show.
angry, fight songs will make you push all the way.
first tried it out when i was in norway, i'd run a set of foxdals intervals on a thursday round sognsvann in some fine summer sun but felt i hadnt really pushed hard enough. id run 3x1minute intervals for 70 minutes ie 52:30 of actual effort, jogging/walking on the spot for rests.
so
the next monday the eminem album came out, i whacked it in my player and ran off to do a pace/threshhold run on the same route as the intervals. wasn't a fine summer evening, in fact it was pissing it down btu i went for it, the tunes pumping, the american neds agression filling me up and pushing me on.
then with just the last hill to go before the flat to home 'till i collapse' starts filling my ears, with its spoken introduction...
'do you ever feel tired, beaten and about to give up? then you just have to look within you and find what ist is you need to keep going'
the result? pace run completed in 48 minutes. in worse conditions and without rests a full 4.5 minutes faster.
i don't advocate listening to eminem at anyother time tho!

What about Max Bygraves!!
Only joking. Perhaps if I listened to that I'd run, just to get away from it. I think the idea of listening to nature is great but not every one is that lucky. I have to admit that I have ample opportunity to listen to nature but find running destroys the peace so a quiet walk with the binnocs and no music must be tops.

Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

Daft Punk - Revolution 909 (or pretty much anything from Homework)
Eagles - Hotel California
Leftfield - Storm 3000
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Monkey Mafia - Blow the whole joint up
Are my top five tunes on my minidisk playing while I run at the moment on top of this I'd go for
Danny Tenaglia Choice album, a collection of Classics
The whole Human Traffic Soundtrack

You can't expect to reach the top without a little climbing!

seems like there's scope for some [nope] compilation tapes here - socials, training.... only apparent problem seems to be choosing what'll go on them!

trebor, i doubt whether your ma will ever know why you listen to eminem.
talking of which, i aquired the eminem back catalogue last week and the album tracks are really awful. whats up with that. now im no real eminem fan as it is, but some of his tunes are really good, and i am in awe of the fact that he can peddle "shock tactics" to kids and make loads of cash from it. but some of the drivel he gets away with is criminal. and dont even get me started on 50 cent. if only one of those bullets had hit a major organ. why is it that when mainstream hip hop was great, it wasnt that big, and now that it is awful it is huge? eh?
rant over

I think it got huge and then became awful because of the need to pay record company employees vast amounts of cash. The raw cutting edge is lost ....so just make sure that Nopesport doesn't lose its cutting edge for the sake of commerciality. Looking forward to your development plan, Samsonite.
As for my training music...any beaty [nope] they have on at the gym when I'm there.
