Whitbarrow National Event Start List
The alphabetical list that was put up last night has now been replaced with a list by class. A few minor errors have been corrected, although there should be no changes to notified start times.

Arn't FCC competitiors meant to start 4 minutes apart or be seeded or something? We've got two club mates of very similar ability starting 2 minutes apart (and our daughters on the same course - but different classes - starting an hour apart)

Geek alert.

WRE Guidelines are on the IOF site but appear silent on the matter.

IOF Rules seem to leave it to the IOF Event Adviser (12.2).

If you are looking for WRE guidelines regarding FCC classes you find any coz WRE has nothing to do with junior classes... if it's a UK Cup there are guidelines and so on

Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

Final details
On the final details: Under Parking/bussing:
"Competitors will be charged when they arrive at assembly. £2 per Senior. £1 per Junior. "
Charged for what does anyone know?

There are none.
WRE start lists this weekend appear to be done according to UK Cup/JK/BOC guidelines (get the foreigners to stamp down the bracken

You mean it's going to cost me an extra £7 to get my family to the assembly field
The bussing and car park was free at NE1 - surely any last minute problems with parking and extra cost is for the club to stand - there is no mention of even the possibility of this charge in the event flier.

Also from the details "It will also be of great help if competitors can double up on transport before reaching the venue." - so why have I got a start time over an hour different from the person I entered with? - hardly the way to encourage car sharing.
Having read the travel details it's a bit academic though - 7-8hours minimum travel time to get to and from the start just isn't feasible, and can I be bovvered? - NO! Surely some hint of this could have been published in advance to avoid people wasting entry money.
Have fun anyone going - hope the weather's good

Totally agree with you Mrs H.
If they have not mentioned this charge previously, and now once everyone entered, they are saying that every competitor must pay an extra 20% or else (the or else in this case being that you will not get a run) then this is a form of extortion or at the very least exaction!
Normally people would be paying per vehicle that they arrived in, and if this is in a minibus, the difference could be £30 rather that £2!
I'm surprised that no-one has come on to explain these decisions, and the points people have made regarding their start times etc, since they were happy to use this vehicle to advise regarding the start lists.

There may well be a logical and acceptable reason for this, but if no one is prepared to come forward and explain it then people will jump to the most negative conclusions. It sounds dodgy, might not be, but staying "schtum" doesn't help.
