colour coded at the JK
Does anyone know what's on offer - I cant find any specifics on the event flier and I'm not sure who to ask - I've got some MADO recruits who'd like to come along and savour the atmopshere as it's pretty local but don't feel up to the age classes (or more specifically the cost!)

The JK preview article in the latest edition of CompassSport mentions a "restricted range of colour-coded courses for non-BOF and those unable to commit to pre-entry" all EOD only. Doesn't really say what 'restricted' means, whether the number of courses is restricted, presumably up to light green, or entry to encourage as many onto the age classes.
That said, I'm trying to enter online at the moment and the entry system appears to have died

A couple of other people have told me this weekend at the Nat Event/JOK Chasing Sprint that they're not doing the age classes 'cos they're too expensive, and are doing the colour-coded instead.

This is not Simon but the wife. Just what is the point of the last comment? Having orienteered when pregnant with both my children, right up until the last month in both cases, there is a world of difference in being 3 months pregnant, 6 months pregnant and 9 months pregnant! Which had the last person ever experienced they would know. 6 months pregnant means a lump bouncing on your bladder with every step you run, worse downhill than up, frequent loo stops enroute to deal with this. Softening of the ligaments in the pubic area, so jumping over ditches becomes a careful stepping procedure... shall I go on!!!?
The Wife not Simon.

Didn't you notice the wink.
I was very much a joke, if an ill-judged one,
and I certainly wasn't suggesting P2B should do anything remotely similar.
I also think her decision is sensible.
By the way the answer to Mrs H's question is surprisingly: None.

Oops. Didn't mean to start a war
Gnitworp - don't worry - I did take your comment as it was intended - 101 people have mentioned that well known fact to me and all I can say is I wish I felt well enough win the World Champs at 3 months pregnant (or at any time in my whole life in fact!)
I've checked on the event info and yes, there will be a 'limited range' so I'll be signing up for the light green at the JK - having jogged W21s at the National last weekend with a belly full of jelly, I'm just looking forward to getting out in the forests for a walk at the JK.
So back to the main topic - I think it's right that only a limited colour coded is offered at the JK. If you're good enough to run green, you're good enough to run your age class - choose short if you don't like the distance offered by the long (and M/W21s can run Very Short). I'm choosing a light green at the JK because I don't want to be too physically challenged - no scrambling up or down muddy mine workings for me please, Mr Planner! Whereas a TD5 (green or W21s) may involve just that (which I normally greatly enjoy)

My information is that white, yellow, orange, red and purple courses [a purple course is TD 3 but longer even than a Red course] will be available on an “entry on the day” basis on each of days 2 and 3 from 10.00 to 12.30 and the entry fees will be £6 / £3 for seniors/juniors + EMIT hire at 50p.
