I have just been reading the new insurance certificate posted on the BOF site today and I have a few concerns with it. The previous certificate had useful information such as:
"Cover: Civil Liability which includes Public Liability (injury to third parties and/or damage to
third party property), Product Liability (injury to third parties and/or damage to third
party property arising out of a defect in any product supplied), Errors and Omissions
(advice given or not given), Member to Member Liability, Trespass, Nuisance, Libel,
Slander, Directors and Officers Liability and all other matters under Civil Law."
and
"Parties Indemnified: Any Affiliated Club, Member, Official or Voluntary helper acting on behalf of the
British Orienteering Federation"
This new one does not have any of that on, are we still covered the same? are there any more documents listing things in more detail? The old one was really good and sorted out many a landowner being pedantic about insurance, I am not so sure about this one.
Anyone with more expertise please help as BOF central is closed till new year, I need to show this to land owners before our event in Mid Jan and need to know where we stand.

Christmas weekend is a bit late to start thinking about sorting insurance out. Have you not discussed insurance with landowners before and are you seriously going to do it between Christmas & New Year?
Go orienteering in Lithuania......... best in the world:)

We have shown all the land owners the old certificate which satisfied them however they want to see the new one given the old one runs out on 31st Dec and our event is in Jan. I have concerns because it is worded differently and this may cause our land owners to ask questions.
Given the new certificate only came out yesterday then yes I am having to deal with this now, kinda hard to show them something which wasn't produced yet!

It is a few years since I dealt with this type of insurance but...
As far as I can see the documents on the BOF site are letters from the Federation's insurance broker confirming that the cover is in place, not the actual policy documents/certificates themselves.
The letter for 2006 confirms that Civil liability cover is in place and then goes on to describe in further detail what this entails. The letter for 2007 also confirms that civil liability cover is in place but does not have the helpful description of the cover.
As the policy number appears to be the same (although it seems that a co-insurer has been brought in to share the risk this year) it is likely that the terms of cover are the same (but with insurance, always check, don't assume).
Sorry I can't be more helpful but the only people who could give a definitive answer would be BOF or the broker.
