this one (once i've corrected a couple of typo's) will be used as part of the media strategy for next years event, probably in conjunction with a more general video about orienteering (tonights work...).
enjoy!

If you want some tips on how to produce a quality video about orienteering, watch this one made by a Southdowns junior!
I think the image quality needs to be better, it was very jerky and blurred. I know that bandwidth is an issue but it needs to be watchable.
But keep trying, there is not enough of this sort of thing available.

Excellent.
My daughter was being told about Orienteering at junior school yesterday... despite her trying to explain her teacher fell back to usual behaviour...

Video seems a good way to go... I'll have to put this on a disc (is that possible?) and get her to take it in.

I was impressed with the quality of that video - much better than some others I've seen on Youtube. Maybe it's the bandwidth of your connection that's making it jerky (I'm on 2Mbps cable)?

I know that our speed is not super fast, but the video I suggested plays fine. So not sure why it would look good but not Rocky's. I've tried it again but it's still jerky.

my problem was the video capture, i was using USB as it was the only cable i had. SIMan has hooked me up with Firewire now and the quality of the raw footage is much better.
at the moment i'm just looking at the old stuff we've taped randomly since we got the camera. the next stage will be coming up with a few projects to tape specifically for, and maybe even video news reports from events?

These two videos were made at the Nordic student champs in Finland a couple of weeks ago. Somehow they managed to edit it all and have them ready for showing on the same evening as the races. Not all the film is about orienteering (although every good race should have a drinks control
- just don't ask about the various characters in costume who appear) but there is some half decent footage and the sunlit snow covered forest looks quite inviting. http://www.rajamaenrykmentti.fi/videot/ ... sprint.mpg
