Soon be World University Champs time. I've looked at the competition website but can't see a list of who's competing so it's quite difficult to judge the validity of the comments on the BOF front page that the men are hopeful of Gold in the Relay & the girls of Silver at least... would be good, it's a strong team.
I know other nations have quite a few WOC runners in thier teams... anyone know if the Aussies have Hanny A?

Got that now.... I think that having relay teams of 4 makes it a bit 'easier' for the stronger nations to get results!
What are the qualifications to be a 'student'... there are some strange ones in the starting list:) Just like at the World Military Champs

well, to get in the BUSA team you have to be a fully registered univeristy student, under or post grad, or have graduated the previous year. I know in 2004 Kiril went even though he spent most of the year living with me in Sweden, he was still registered as a student though. I think what it comes down to is the fact that in other countries the universities are more understanding of people trying to combine elite sport and their studies, which basically they can be a student as long as they want and don't really have to do all that much work...
In the mens CZE, FIN, NOR, SUI, SWE all have strong relay teams. Saying that, I still think our is the best.
(I don't know enough about foriegn girls to make a comment)

He,he.... World Cup in Ukraine 2000 and Oli's bag went missing in Poland on the way through... we found him some dodgy kit & he got some GB kit from lest of the squad... then in the hotel he'd left his O kit on the balcony to dry... along came the wind & blew Oli's kit away
Think his bag turned up at home 3 months later

Judging from his squad profile photo on the BOF website, it's probably a good job that he's lost his O kit.

Back to the World Students, start lists are now up for the classic race
Women:
Mhairi Mackenzie 10:22 (Slovakia time)
Rachael Elder 10:58
Helen Bridle 11:26
Men:
Oleg Chepelin 09:33
Murray Strain 10:13
Matt Crane 11:33
Oli Johnson 12:05
As 2nd starter Oleg gets the pleasure of having to get the bus at 6:45. Nice, luckily, Mhairi is 26th starter, so gets 45 mins extra in bed.
Good luck guys.
