I am pleased to report that we have been given the green light to go ahead with our plans to hold the Lincolnshire Bomber in 2007. We will be putting on a Relay event at RAF Cranwell on Saturday 13th January followed by a Park Race and Long O around the City of Lincoln on Sunday 14th January.
Precise details are a bit sketchy at the moment however things are going quite well and more details will be added to our dedicated website in the coming weeks. We aim to have possibly 4 courses for the Park Race, 2 adult (4.5k ish) & 2 junior (2.5k ish)Courses will be taken around the historic centre of the city featuring many alley ways and cobbled streets. We do have a little hill on the course so don't expect the super fast pace you find in York. The Long O will be in the region of 20K and "Should" be totally bramble and largely undergrowth free. It will feature many different types of terrain from open hillside, open forest, fast parkland & city streets.
I know there have been comments about a Long O and Park Race on the same day, I can confirm the Long O will be finishing on the Park Race map which should give a fast paced finish to the run. For those of you who are up for a challenge you can always run the Park Race before running the Long O! We hope to make the Park Race an annual event for the city.
Details will be appearing on http://www.lincsbomber.co.uk
This is a joint venture between the Royal Air Force Orienteers & the Lincoln Orienteering Group
Cheers
Steve
