We have uploaded 1700 images at http://www.CompassSport.co.uk and a further 1000 (?) it is hoped will be there soon when Ben Roberts sorts out his disk drive. We have not caught everyone but we got a fair few! There are 24 galleries over the 4 days and there are times and locations on each, so you have to do a bit of working out as to where you were when. You can also try searching your club's name in the top right. I have "tagged" photos with this for searching, but only 20% of pictures have nice recognisable club tops and I have already spotted one HOC in the NOC crew - oohps - and the system is now locked! I have not put clubs to Juniors' pictures and Juniors on the relay day have had their numbers removed.
Clubs with quite a few tagged pictures that I can remember are BOK, SLOW, FVO, SHUOC, AIRE, SLOW, HOC -their club members seem to like wearing their club tops!
Please let me have any comments on the system and the photos! It is a little bit of an experiment for us. There are 3 different photograpers' pictures uploaded. Feel free to browse. There is no obligation to buy anything, but if you do feel tempted, some of the sale will go to YHOA Junior Squad and their tour to Sweden in the summer.

Apols for some MDOCs infiltrating the AIRE folk seabird - infact, an AIRE member has already put me straight! The system is locked so I cant change it now alas. Tagging 1700 pictures is quite time consuming and I make mistakes...
Jenny - I did take shots of the individual prize-giving but mainly the women as the light was better that side of the marquee (my excuse!) However, I was not so sure they would be of interest?? But that is one of the things I hoped people would comment on. What should go online? What about team shots? I thought putting up Junior prize-giving would be a no-no, as it is very easy using the results lists for people to find out who the people were.

Is it really that serious an offence to publish a photo of a junior that somebody can with some research work out the name of? I'll have to point out to our webmaster that he should take down the photo of our medal winning junior relay team from the British champs, as the same thing could be done, or is that OK as you can't tell which is which? I appreciate the guidelines which tell you not to identify juniors, but the world really has gone mad if people really think that somebody is going to stalk a junior via orienteering results pictures when there are much less convoluted methods available!

Sorry to go somewhat off-thread, but can anyone suggest why I can no longer view the excellent photos? All was fine until mid-afternoon yesterday when the page timed-out and I haven't been able to reload since. Any help most appreciated; I presume it's my machine. Thanks for the help.

Crispy-seems to work for me now. Suggest re-freshing/starting again? There is a bug we are trying to fix (if you search from the side with the 1st pic of each 24 galleries, then the view/buy buttons dont work - but otherwise it all seems to work.)
AR-If you have permission from the parent(s) of the minors in question, then it is fine to post the photo on your website and celebrate the medals - being club members you probably know all parties concerned very well. It is difficult to get the OK from all parties concerned for lots of Junior prize-winners however.

AR- I think you can rest assured the web master is OK. The juniors and parents sign up to allow photos to be posted. The one in question has already been in the local rag.
Anyway would you want to research that lot

Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

he British Schools Orienteering Association always post prizegiving photos on their website and I'm sure they have all the child protection stuff thoroughtly sorted. Digisport have posted photos of the junior prizegiving. I would have thought that it would be absolutely fine for them to be posted on the CompassSport website.
Do the missing 1000 images include any complete missing galleries ? at the time my son finished as a winner on Day 2 all the galleries presently available are (like the commentary at the time) 100% pure, unadulterated elite.

jab - I concentrated on non elite orienteers for the majority of my photos on days 1 and 2. Once I have my computer back and have these online then who knows maybe there will be a photo of your son!
cheers

What are you talking about, have you looked at the galleries?
If your son came in at the same time as a leading elite, then it is very likely that the photographer will not take a photo of a junior, which has the re-sale audience of their parents, or of an elite winner, which can be used in magazines, and publicity and marketing etc. So is likely to earn them a bit more money.
Has it already got to the stage where people are expecting and demanding photos of everysingle person.
These photographers had already run 14km of elite course. And then sat down for an hour or so to provide us with a luxury, and all you can do is complain.
