Compass sport cup round 1

So...how did today go?

In the south central round, OD and TVOC have gone through. SOC narrowly missed out being only 1 point behind TVOC with HH, who were missing a couple of key families, closely following.
In the smaller clubs competition it was SARUM who took the top spot.

any news from other rounds?

MDOC first for the cup i think, didnt look at points tho..can't remember where AIRE were actually

NOC through in the fast-paced round in EAOA ahead of WAOC and then NOR (I think!)



if aire went out then thats a bit of a shock- they're pretty gd

The SYO coach is still on its way back to Sheffield at the end of the 350 mile round trip to NATO's event at Callaly where SYO beat CLOK by about 100 points. I drove there from Wakefield and got back at 17:00. Good weather at the event but intermittant blizzards driving back on the A1. Its good to be back in the CSC final after 5 barren years. See you all at Greenham Common.

PS I always enjoy CSC matches (even if I don't always score points) and I know it is organized in a very fair manner, but is there any way we can avoid such distances in the qualifying round in future? We also went to a qualifying round match at Brown Clee in 2002. Maybe its just because South Yorkshire is centrally positioned in the country.

NOC only just squeaked through by 34 points - all those who didn't come will be needed in the Final!!

West Mids round of the Cup won by BOK followed by WCH then HOC then NGOC, so BOK and WCH through to the Final.
Not sure about the Trophy.

AIRE had quite a comfortable lead, but MDOC join them in the final. (Unless some amazing events occurred after 2.30 that is!)

SYO head north, passing through AIRE territory and AIRE head south to an event 25 miles west of Sheffield! Was anyone told where to run, or did we all just select our preferred venues?

orite ok..sorry!! i obv. wasnt looking very well... MDOC were in the lead for the first couple of hours though werent they?

i thought having the scores updated on the computer live was v. clever..

Latest on that - apparently there's been a miscount and one of SOC's runners missed out of the calculation, so that result may well be reversed...

In the south-east round, Southdowns were 1st, about 60 points ahead of SLOW in 2nd - both qualifying for the final. It was a great fast and furious race at Wisley, with the Brown course winner going round in just over 5 mpk's (although not quite as fast as the South Central round by the looks of things!).

SOC have indeed now qualified for the final, by 4 points - one of their M45's had been incorrectly labelled an M40 so hadn't scored on the original results. Well done to the eagle-eyed SOC member who spotted that.

Due to a clerical error the final results for the SCOA round have changed, SOC were 2nd, TVOC 3rd

Looks like that completes the line-up for the Cup final then:

10 teams this year - AIRE, BOK, MDOC, NOC, OD, SLOW, SO, SOC, SYO, WCH.

A resounding win for AIRE. Just like to say thanks to MDOC though - the best courses us lot have run at Macclesfield- plenty of interesting route choice, interspersed with short tricky legs, and a lovely (if a tad slippy!) forest to boot. Thanks guys!
