At the weekend Wimborne held their regional event but with a difference. After much talking John Lewis (KSODA) challenged Dick Keighley (WIM) to a schools match of Avon Schools v Dorset Schools. The upshot was 102 juniors ran in a fantastic event planned by Tim Britton and organised by Kirsty Staunton. Many had not run in a badge event before and hopefully many will now run again. Minor problems were the entry of over 500 and the large number of SI dibbers required but the weather was fantastic and afterwards the juniors were playing football and using the play facilities of Sandy Balls Caravan Park and generally having a fantastic time.
I think it would be fair to say that normally we would have been lucky to have had 30-40 junior entries for such an event.
The schools challenge certainly added an extra dimension to the day.
Results can be found on the Wim website along with many photos taken by Simon (the sleepy owl)
