In early negotiations with the council, they neglected to tell us they had already given another event the go-ahead for that day and it was only through an unlikely route that we discovered this was the case. It was then clear from further discussions that they would not allow the two events to happen on the same day; with the preparations for the other event now well advanced and the council refusing to reconsider we were left with no option but to call it off.
As Rocky indicated, things are happening behind the scenes to ensure an alternative event will be happening that day to keep it as a weekend of UK Cup racing. This is currently in the hands of the elite competitions group, and hopefully something will be confirmed soon -- keep a look out for the details.
And as for the street race? Well we are now hoping it will be third time lucky and hope to run it one Saturday in the Autumn in conjunction with a large event nearby on the Sunday. This new timing will lift some of the restrictions that would have hampered us in the summer months and make the event even better than it would have been
