STRANGE TIMING AT BOF

The award will be made in 2006 and is part of the CCPR's Club of the Year 2006 so what's the problem? Stop looking for ways of sniping at BOF and let's have some festive good spirit!

Well that's totally stupid then.... how can you have a club of the year for 2006 when applications need to be in after only 27 days of the year.... and if it's a BOF club of the year it must be supported / ratified by BOF so that makes it even more stupid.....

Now applications by Jan 27th for a club of the year 2005 would be sensible

But I like the idea of Christmas Spirit..... Ba Humbug

I agree that it seems unnecessarily picky to raise this as an issue - looks like someone has already stopped work for 2005?!!

There seems a parallel with Car of the Year, where the Car of the year (eg 2006) is I think often chosen late in the previous year (eg 2005), so you could say that BOF might have been better to seek nominations in early December 2005, but since it is run by another body, perhaps they have to fall in line with that body's procedure? And there could be achievements in late 2005 that need to be mentioned.

Since BOF Clubs have benefited from this compeititon in the past, don't knock it unnecessarily. It offers the prospect of well-deserved recognition to the hard-working volunteers in orienteering.

Not knocking.... I'm sure it's a very worthwhile cause... just of the opinion that it's totally stupid selecting a club of the year after only 27 days of the year have passed

it is like the guiness book of records, it is published late 2005 but the records/club of the year will stand through 2006

it means the current club of thge year through 2006 not best club from 2006

Presumably if they awarded a club of the year 2005 then, you'd complain they were backward thinking, as they should make the award in the same year. Have you never noticed that January magazines come out at the start of December?

Anyway, not as silly as usernames which are two years ahead.

Ok.... Christmas Truce Good luck to all that enter the Club of the Year anyway cause the prizes are well worth the effort...........

And in 9 days my user name will only be 1 year ahead.... which is almost as silly as a Club of the Year Competition decided in January
