Seems that BOC is now a closed competition with entry restricted to BOF members only.... nothing wrong with that as such but it also includes all the M21V type classes as well & it's likely that these people won't be BOF members.... also all the short classes which aren't really Championship Courses...
I was going to try & bring some people across from LTU to run a BOC... seems a good event on good areas at an early time of year & it's nice & handy for Gatwick... but even being a member of an IOF member federation won't help...

As I said I don't have any problems at all with BOC being a closed event... but I don't think it's helpful that the restrictions are in place for short / very short courses... but as Rocky says that might be another issue.
About other National Champs being closed... I don't think it's as many as you'd think... and interestingly on the BOF website just now they are promoting the French & the Australian National Championships:)

Is it BOC or JK that has an enormous M21S trophy? The BOF guidelines state that colour coded courses should only be provided for beginners and less competent orienteers which essentially rules out anything over TD3. I'm not really sure why n/c runs are not allowed on short courses - does seem a shame that (what is only ever likely to be a handful of) non UK nationals are denied a run on what should be one of the best events of the year.

I'm almost certain that when I stuck in all the labels for the BOC 2000 there was a group entry from some foreign millitary - I rather think Charles B-G handled it (but I could be wrong)
Neil - BOF have taken all the BOC and JK short trophies away!
got one at W45S but not W50S

The M21S (or M21B as was) trophy for BOC is bigger than the FA Cup. It takes up a lot of space in the trophy cupboard..
I assume this means that this is a trophy for the M21S? So how come there isn't one for the M21L?
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.
