its a shameless plug, but we'll let you away with it this time.
note that euoc held the first ever Alco-Micro World Championships a few weeks back with competitors from Scotland, England, Ireland, Finland and Canada. Well a guy about to go to Canada.
Format was different drinks dropped in different features close together. You had to have a drink at each control and remember what you had at each one: so there might have been Cider on Thicket south side and Vodka/Coke on thicket west side and lager on a nearby knoll.
Penalties for getting it wrong, were, of course, more drinks and running about!
Ed Catmur won, and proclaimed micro "easy", presumably he'll be back on his home turf to show how its done!

There's definitely a few more genuine M21's coming that I know of who haven't entered yet. I've even managed to persuade my brother to come down from Leeds for the weekend to give the Micr-O a go. With lots of other people running up as well, there should be some very competitive M/W21L courses on offer. Really looking forward to it, something a bit different...
The question is, with only a 30-second penalty for a miss-punch, if you're not entirely convinced when you reach a control that it's right then is it worth just punching it anyway and going on (would it take more than 30 seconds to find the right one?). Could be some interesting tactics.

I'm planning on punching the first one that looks likely.
Looks like your planning is different from my planning then! I agree that this would be a reasonable tactic if you had to dogleg in and out of controls, but I hope I've planned things such that you're far better off punching the correct site.
