this ones for west midlands based orienteers - i was just wondering if anyone would be keen to try and get together a training group a la edinburgh/sheffield? I'll be moving back to brum at the end of march (although not on a really permanent basis until the 23rd of april) and would be keen to train with other orienteers perhaps just once a week, seeing as how we are a bit more spread out than other places - we could train once a week in a variety of locations if people can arrange transport, or maybe just all arrange to meet at a midweek evening event and have an informal mass start/minute interval race or something. if anyone is interested then you can either pm me on this forum or email ben_liam@hotmail.com
Even better, perhaps if someone could start coordinating this (perhaps something on a smaller scale already exists within clubs - braddie, gg?) then it might be up and running when i get back... either way it just a (selfish?!) thought.
cheers
Ben

We do some training in local areas at the moment, GG, Jules (Simpson), Jess and I, mainly only when Graham is fit because hes the only one with enough time to organise it!! but we have a series of events on Wednesday evenings starting on April 28th, which are good as informal mass start etc. Whereabouts in the west midlands are you going to be, because this is mainly just around the coventry, kenilworth area

depending on traffic i'll be about 30minutes drive away from ken, although i seem to remember getting it down to about 23minutes around midnight when i turned the car into a chav mobile and really bazzed it.
when I get back I'll be happy to organise the odd one or two other training nights if there was enough interest - sutton park on a midweek evening, that hay wood place with the fences, even lickey hills if people can be arsed with the drive - we could do some serious training there.
otherwise wednesday nights sound good - those small events can be great if a load of us make the effort to attend, and go hard.
when i get back i'll get in touch with y'all to see what the beef is, but sounds as if things will be good. by the way, if jules reads this, thanks for the Fantasy UK Cup points the other day, i knew you wouldnt let me down!

Sorry Ben - missed this while in Mallorca - HOC will be putting on a series of summerr evening events - see (very good new) web site for programme - Last year Sarah Rollins used them for training - I don't know if she's still in Brum - she'd give you lot a run for your money. Usual format is orange, green and blue in places like the Likeys etc - but I guess once the controls are out you can do what you like.
