If anyone's interested there's a copy of a 3-minute report (in German) from the German team champs (and no, that's not relays) which was broadcast on local TV down there. A pretty decent effort, and considering it was basically just one bloke with his camera at the race (I didn't see any more at least), shows what can be done in terms of TV coverage of orienteering with relatively little input:

Bald headed bearded spokesman - is the IOF cloning these people. ?

Classic clip of lost man. Rotates map through 180 deg, looks right then heads off left. Pure brilliance.

to be fair, that was actually the event organiser they were interviewing to explain a bit how it worked

.Agreed.
I wasn't knocking the coverage.
Suppose the lost guy reminded me too much of myself as I go into "spaniel" mode as well !!

There's lots of going "von Posten zu Posten" in german orienteering...they seem to use that instead of the word orienteering for most of the report! Still, a bit of a strange event...I think it was like the team event at the White Rose, but all in all a good promotion, even an interview with the german women's champion. Nice

Excellent 7 min segment in the SportNation program...
Really enjoyed it and although it concentrated on the qualifier in the Guildford campus there were forested segments too.
Perhaps not enough sprinting and an illusion to people standing still looking at maps but that's a minor critism...
I thought it was cool and went out orienteering with my family shortly afterwards!!
