Now we're very close to 100 entries, a prize (again, not a browned t-shirt, unless you want one) to the 100th person who does enter, i'll keep accepting entries for a wee while yet but e-mail me first to check.

I hope it doesn't set a precedent for clubs trying to push other events off the calendar, particularly since these two are so far apart geographically - I think you should have been stronger in your response and refused to be deleted (particularly since you appear to have registered your event first, with the PT but not the WR appearing in the printed Spring fixture list). After all, the White Rose is only C3 level and there are many weekends with more than one C3 in different parts of England, which by EBOR's standards should obviously be decimating each other's entries...
Good luck with your event - I really enjoyed Arisaig when the Scottish was there, and it's in a different league to the grotty plantations that get used for the WR. To answer your question, I'm afraid it's just too far away for a weekend, particularly as it's only a week before I leave for my main summer holiday.

You mean the Scottish wasn't your main summer holiday How the other half live. Mr Hocolite thinks that a multiday O event with camping constitutes a main summer holiday.
I can sometimes get a night of luxury in a hotel if I beg sult long enough. I'm working on the FRench Five days in 2007 because even though it might be camping there are other benefits. I'm also pushing for a holiday if we have to go to the O ringen next year.
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

Not personally involved in the organisation or registering of events although an EBOR member.
Personally, I would say a request is a request and could have been declined by the fixtures composer, and in my opinion should have been. The fixtures are far enough apart to not impact each other to any great degree.
Having said that, the fixture list needs to be managed and clubs should be advised when requested dates are occupied by events already registered in their region. Of course this begs the question of neighbouring regions and proximity of events, but generally clubs do not want to compete with each other and can reach amicable arrangements.

I just think there might have ben some funding in it if you held it the weekend after the S6D as you could go to the Highlands and Islands council and say you will be keeping X number or orienteers kicking their heels in Scotland for the best part of an extra week (spending money on food/accommodation/entertainment) and would they mind sponsoring the entertainment/map printing/publicity or the like. It's the sort of thing they go for. and it certainly would have kept more people up there and got more entries - if that is what you are after - might be worth thinking about in 2007?
