Fantasy UK Cup 2004 (like fantasy football)
The British Orienteering Squad support fund offers small grants to athletes with World Class potential who come up with their own plan for self-organised training camps. This fund has in the past helped young orienteers to push themselves further, contributing to the medal-winning success of our current team. Recently, several more young potential stars have received money to help them in 2004.
To maintain the ability to help our athletes, the BOS support fund is running the inaugural Fantasy UK Cup.
The idea is simple; choose a team based on the rules below. Submit it along with the entry fee. The person whose team scores the most points wins!
The cost to enter will be £3, and the money goes to the British Squad support fund.
There will be some good cash prizes (and hopefully donated goods) – definitely for the top 3, and hopefully some smaller prizes for team of the week, and so on.
Rules
• Orienteers ranked between 1 and 4, based on last years UK Cup, current Ranking Lists and the current British Squad
• You must choose a team of 5 men and 5 women
• The total rank of your team must be 22 or more
• Scoring based on UKCup scoring system (see http://www.peellandsurveys.co.uk/ukcup/index.html)
• During the season, you may make 2 changes to your team (eg. If one of your team gets injured), but the total rank must still be over 22
An example team:
Men
Jon Duncan 1
Clive Parry 2
Neil Conway 3
Tim Tett 3
Julian Simpson 3
Women
Jenny Whitehead 1
Gillian Godfree 2
Claire Ward 2
Helen Palmer 2
Alice Bedwell 3
Total rank 22
You start scoring as soon as you submit your entry, and the first races are on the 28th and 29th of February, so enter soon to start getting points. Full list of events on http://www.peellandsurveys.co.uk/ukcup/index.html.

GG,
some chat about the Fantasy UK cup at the weekend and there were a few questions:
how does a team score ?
is it each score in each race all added up at the end of the season ?
Is it final UK cup score for the final team ?
is there a transfer window e.g. post JK.
cheers

You take the six best scores from each of your runners over the season and add them together (like uk cup)
however if you make a change (which you can do at any time), if you change person A for person B, you take the six best scores from them combined, but excluding their scores when they were not in your team
eg. change after 5 races, so A has 5 scores, B has 6. take the best six from the 11 scores
hope this is clear
