Why are there so many miserable people in this country, i mean we tried to get rid of Gross, but he still pops his head up everynow and again (hi Gross!)
Did anyone see last nights newsnight though? It was awesome, Lord Strattam (or something), and Sharon Davies had a right battle with some stupid bint of a woman.
It was great to see someone with some real passion for the game, and clearly knowing what it meant. while the stupid bint just harped on about hospitals and it'll only be there for 15 days blah de blah...
She was well put in her place though, which was good to see, after she came out with a quote saying 70% of people didn't want it, and when was this poll? over a year ago, oops love f**k off and crawl back into the hole you came from.

there is freedom of speech and also blatant ignorancy.
to think that the Olympics will touch down for 15days and then go again is rubbish. The games for the East End of London started yesterday, and will last for years after the event with all the facilities available.

I've also heard that some of the sporting facilities will be deconstructed and erected elsewhere in the country....

Lets not forget, some people are wholly uninterested in sport of whatever shape and form. Hospitals and schools may well appear a damn sight more important to them than spending 1.5 billion on sporting arenas and infrastructure in one isolated corner of the country.
Me, if its sport I'll watch it. Yes, football is going all over the country so a number of our cities will benefit along with people unable to travel to London for whatever reason. I haven't seen the 'exit' strategy but by the sound of it the legacy has been addressed within the proposal.
Its people like the 'bint' that need to be convinced that the Olympics being held in our country under our flag is a good thing. Now we've got them we need to get the country behind it, not just the sporting types.

True, but if there's one sporting event which these people watch it's something at the Olympics. People who never watch sport are suddenly talking about it in the pub. It's great to have such an occasion in your own back yard.

I think the best argument when dealing with that is something along the lines that if more money was spent on sport and activity, there would be far less pressure and need to spend money on hospitals, given especially that (from recollection) 4 of the top half dozen nations for heart disease are the UK home nations.

This happened in Lillehamer.
I used a hotel in Longyearbyen that was one of the hotels used in Lillehamer for the Olympics the previous year.
Too often the olypics end with the closing cermony with just debt and rotting facilities. Looks like they are on to this problem.
Just as long as us second class citizens (ie non olympic sports) are not forgotten.
