Hocolite is referring to Bob Roach receiving an award from "Child Protection In Sport" - see BOF news. Maybe not surprising that BOF central are unwilling to get involved in a campaign against the "cotton wool culture"?

That's very much the gist of an e-mail I sent off today having been asked indirectly by RF how BOF Central could progress recent publicity - I said I couldn't quite see how the two approaches could be reconciled.
Except of course that safe children are likely to be street-wise children. I said it would be a challenge for Caroline the new marketing manager to see if there were ways she could work the counter cotton wool approach into BOF Central's strategy - and one in which I would be happy to help in anyway i can.

It can't be that hard to dissociate running into trees, getting lost, falling in bogs, getting cut bruised and generally feeling alive from being buggered by perverts.
Oh, but I was forgetting,
of course, all the forests in Britain are permanently inhabited by paedophiles, they love hanging around in damp forests waiting for a sweaty bunch of mud spattered crazies to go hurtling by, much better hunting grounds than the familiar playpark or the regular walk to school.
alternatively push orienteering skills as sicko survival skills.
" Playing in the woods kids ?"
" realise you are being stalked ?"
" if you were an orienteer you could be gone in a flash; leaping crags, bounding over logs, running through bogs, swift and sure to safety. Leaving the weirdo tangled in the brambles, with their dirty Mac in tatters"
ORRRRRRrrrrrrrrr
All the joys and advantages extolled by Mrs H AND we take your children's safety seriously.
now, wasn't that simple ?........

That's more or less the point i was making.
Just been looking at the story on the BOF news page. It says this is a preliminary award - can anyone tell us what the full award entails and whether BOF are aiming for it.
Incidentally when you go onto the CPSU website, although orienteering is listed as a sport - if you press the link it says nothing is known and does not list the governing body. So we may know about them but it seems they don't know about us - so we're even missing out on the safe-sport side of things. It seems a bit odd that BOF should get this award and then no recognition for it Perhaps you have to get past the prelimianry stage before they'll include you

So, over at flavour of the month newspaper...
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/
type "orienteering" into search...
2) Soothing your body the oriental way
(sadly, not about the upcoming WOC in Japan)
4) Fury over gay study
Some gay people can turn heterosexual if they are highly motivated to do so, according to a controversial study
9) My son is downloading porn!
Not a squeak about orienteering or Mrs H, though they do offer a targeted paid-for ad selling waterproof clipboards.
but wait! try
"Lynden Hartmann"
and the first hit is an article beginning with the words "British running ace..."
