Extra Value Orienteering- The Big Pit
The Weather -could have been better
but it was YOU the orienteer who was missing.
Too tired after the WOC, this was more challenging than any course I did at WOC and the terrain was better (definitely fairer) than any I ran on except Mychett
Sorry YOU weren't there it meant no distractions from others on the course .

Pwll Du is an excellent area and I'm only sorry that i couldn't be there. Unfortunately the JOK dinner fell on the same weekend and there are fewer burnt out cars in Oxford.....

but there were some motorbikes and 4-wheel drives just driving randomly around the area up + down slag heaps! 3 motorbikes came to the top of one of the heaps by the start and i think were a little surprised to find a tent and lots of people dressed in funny clothes at the bottom!

Matt - you won the Southern Champs last weekend at Leith Hill. We had the trophy at home passed on by Ed Catmur. No winners in 2003/4, but you are the 2005 Southern Champion! Well done. Hsve passed the trophy on to Ricky Wise who should arrange to get it to you.

I agree with everything Hocolite mentioned. My thoughts as I sat in the pub next to the assembly field with a couple of club collegues, looking out over the moors and with a pint of best biter in front of me.
I thought the courses were great (thanks Rhodri) and the kids did a great job in organising.
Number were low, but they were always going to be given the number of high profile events during the last couple of months.

Well that about sums it up - too many events of a must-do nature (selection) too far away and in too quick succession -= I'm afraid this was one which we would probably have done in the autumn but a bit O'ed out now.
Incidentally - I'm surprised at the timing of the event given the high input by juniors as exam season is upon us - might it not have been a better idea to have done it in the Autumn for that reason also?

I was disappointed not to see you at Pwll Ddu Mrs H, and after seeing you tip toe thru the bluebells at Mallards Pike I went out and bought a slab of Bara Brith and some nice salty butter to share, now I am going to have to scoff it all myself - there goes my Scottish 6 day training plan!. Have to agree though the fixtures are getting so conjested what with BOC, the World Cup races, Pwll Ddu, BOK TROT, Twin Peaks, SIN's you just have to select the races that suite you, it's too expensive to travel and enter them all. Oh well back to Bara Brith.

I feel real guilty now We knocked out Pwll Ddu and Twin Peaks to give us a bit of a breather ( It was only me and young Neville who went on Saturday and he only came 'cos no-one would go and see Hitch Hikers guide to the Galaxy with him - the girls had urgent pleasure to attend to - and Mr H. was at THE meeting). Doesn't Bara Brith keep in a tin?

Not any more, yum yum, maybe I'll cook some Welsh Cakes for SIN's and bring them along.

Yes Please Freaky.
We love Welsh Cakes. Having lived in Swansea for three years when ever we venture into the country and have time it's down to the market for Welsh cakes.
Last time it was Cardiff market at half term. The kids have been educated in the art so Rob & I eat them warm, and took the cold ones onto to Mark at Bath. Mike only got a few once Mark had had his fill.
Perhaps you should have a stand for the junior squad at sins!!!

PS never mind Mrs H she's a heathen, she doesn't appreciate the cooking/delights from the provinces, she'll be running down Irish Stew and Guiness next

Welsh Cakes are just pasturised cow pats(you know from cows that give pasturised milk), Irish stew does not contain any meat - just bones and potatoes - and Guinness is spelt with 2 Ns - which is the most positive thing I can think to say about it
