drugs in O'
There is a lot of talk at the moment about drugs in sport. i.e. greg rusedski and his acceptance about taking the wrong supplements. (this dude is canadian but we stick up for him). alain baxter fell for it last year aswell. what is the defined list of illegal drugs in orienteering? is there a complete list available or are we to accept that of the IOC? i know this is made available to the british squad but there are competitive people away from this who deserve to know.ant info is good info.
golden oldies: they don't yell, they don't tell and they're greaftul as hell.

I agree that BOF are really pathetic about telling people who aren't in the squad. Anyone who runs Elite / UK Cup races is liable to get tested, and the rules apply to everyone competiting.
I passed my drugs test from the JK2002 after a nervous wait.
The best source of info is the UK sport site
http://www.uksport.gov.uk/did
This site lets you look up stuff my brand name to see if it is allowed.
Loads of stuff was taken off at the start of the year including caffiene and that stuff they put in cold remedies that I'm not going to attempt to spell.

Hate to disagree with Godders & support BOF... but for once the info is ther & available for anyone to see... there can be ZERO excuses for taking any form of banned substance in orienteering.... if you are in a position where you are likely to be tested... UK Cup, SHI etc etc then you should be aware of what you can & can't take... & if you are on any form of prescribed regular medication you should notify BOF in advance of the competition

And on the subject of drugs... look out soon for info on the GROSS FREEFALL for Charity... in support of research into diabetes & elite performance sport

The info may be there but if you're not in the squad it isn't exactly easy to find that part of the BOF website.
I totally agree with zero tolerance of drugs in sport. But BOF should make the information readily available - not hide it in the squad section of the site.

Pseudoephedrine was recently taken off the banned list.
Still on the banned list is "Ephedrine and related substances"
Like Gordon says, there's really no excuse for not understanding the rules.
