It isn't just us though. Norwegians and Finns think that emit's great and don't see why anyone would want to use that crazy unreliable SI system. Conversely, most orienteers I've spoken to from countries which use SI think that emit is a complete pain and why can't everyone stick with the nice user-friendly system we know.
All of which suggests that........
Both systems are great, both systems have positives and negatives.
Up to now the popular view has been that with SI the positives are for the competitor while for emit they are for the organiser. It seems with both the new SI units and the emit hand-free punching that the two sides are addressing the weaknesses associated with their product. As Mr Dover says, the competition seems to be having a positive effect.
