Hey Guys,
i need to some direction by some London based orienteers as to which clubs are good to join. I am after regular orienteers and maybe a bit of training in the evenings with a club run.
So which clubs are the most fun to join?

Now, I know you're a feminist, and I think that's adorable, but this is grown-up time and I'm the man.

you might be better off joining a running club for evening training? a couple of orienteering friends of mine train regularly with serpentine runners.

Just the sort of helpful and constructive advice that's needed - and so well argued. I'm surprised you don't want people to know who you are.
I'm not a London orienteer, but my experience of SLOW when visiting has been extremely positive. They would certainly be high on my list of clubs to consider joining.

I am in SLOW and would thoroughly recommend it. It's by far the most socially active club I've been in, with street events all through the winter and plenty of summer training events as well - including a regular 'Trail-O' series (might be what you were thinking of SJ?). We have regular social pub nights as well.
There's also quite a few 20-something orienteers in the club now, and as far as I'm concerned would be the best club for anyone to join moving to the London area.
Have a look at the website if you're interested.

I can recommend Saxons as an 'O' club for anyone in south-east London. We cover a huge area of Kent and East Sussex (and have some London-based members)so find social activities a bit difficult, but we have a growing and enthusiastic membership and an active events programme, both Saturdays and Sundays - with a Park 'O' series in the summer. Look at our website at http://www.saxons-oc.org
SLOW are a good club though!

is that like the 6km (or 10km) race held on wimbledon common? and if so, are these regular?
Yes it is. It's fairly regular, there have been about 4 or 5 already this year.
Details of the spring series are at:

and there should be a summer series as well, there were 3 or 4 last summer. Good fun events.

I would have thought that if you're going in for serpentine running, you would have to do it SLOWly - unless you're an old school Thai, of course!
I thank you

As a former member of LOK and a current member of SLOW I would recommend both clubs. Which one you join probably depends on where you are located. 'S' stands for South!
Although WCup fever have obviously gripped the schedules there will be a number of evening training events coming soon organised by the usual suspects of SEOA clubs... come on down and have a run. I believe there is a SLOW Sprint on Wombledon common soon.
Regards,
Gavin
