Bradders as previously said depends on where you are based. Southern navigators do a lot of low key events, but you might be North or East of the Thames. Then you may need to look at SOS HH or CHIG

Clearly I'm going to say SOS are great, which they are. But we don't have a all year training setup other then running with the local athletic club. However in the summer we do have set of several trail race type sessions planned followed by BBQ's at members homes.
However we have a good membership base with mostly active members and are fairly successful for the clubs size. If you are based to the east of london then SOS in my opion would be a good club to join, but SLOW are probably more active as a club for training purposes and the best club to join if you live anywhere but to the north or east of london.

One of the main considerations for someone joining a London club often depends on whether they have transport or not.
If you are going to need lifts to events, then it's a good idea to join the club "covering" the area where you live as potential drivers will live nearby - north of the Thames is LOK homeland, north-east is Chigwell and south-east closer to London than Kent is DFOK (Dartford).
Just for information, LOK train every Thursday from the Royal Free Recreation Club: we use Hampstead Heath when it is light enough or local roads during the winter. Some Klubb members also train with the Heathside AC on Tuesdays. We only organise 5-6 events per year mainly because the core of the club is pretty small, but very active.
Given that many people move to London for work purposes, many of our members are single or couples in the 21/35/40 age-groups, so we're a fairly social club too!

If you're moving to South East London, I can recommend my club, DFOK. DFOK organises a lot of events for a small club, but only occasional training runs. For training you can join Cambridge Harriers. They have a very active cross-country/fell running section.
I don't think anyone's mentioned CROC (Croydon) or HAVOC (far eastern side of London).

I'll mention CROC! Based round Croydon and the A23 corridor, it's good if you're likely to be based a long way south of the centre. (With London rush hour traffic, it can easily take an hour to get from Croydon to Wimbledon common for events!) There's regular training on Tuesday evenings throughout the year from Coulsdon, and then in the summer there's the joint summer series (with MV and SLOW) and the option of really nice off-road runs on the North Downs. CROC is a pretty small club, and unfortunately getting smaller, so if you are after regular relay runs / trips to big events, you're probably better off with SLOW. However, the club is very friendly and if you need transport to events, there's always someone to help out.
One of the great things about orienteering in London is that the clubs do work together well, and whichever club you join, you'll end up meeting and getting to know people from other clubs.

Right,
Should be living in Borough/Kennington area in the next month or so. Which club does that fall under?? SLOW? or LOK?

Now, I know you're a feminist, and I think that's adorable, but this is grown-up time and I'm the man.

I lived in Borough last year, and joined SLOW. I've remained with the club even though I've now moved back north of the Thames.

That's pretty much in the middle and good travel access to both SLOW and LOK during the week. So maybe look at other things such as whether you want to join a 'straight' running club as well (road or cross country?). Will you be living in London for a while? If so then relay team runs might be of interest, so check out who had teams at the JK and BOC
PS Declared interest I'm a member of SLOW
