Once started without a map.. It was in Bringewood,ie home so I knew all the sites.. just remembered them and set off., just to see if I could do it. Was a Saturday event, in those glorious years when there were WYE sat events, so I could run on the way to the football. (United were in the league then too - bliss)

having written the report on busa, i feel that one thing i should have mentioned is that oli was happy for scott to be running with him as this pushed him on round the course. and as scott said himself, oli wasn't the only person there. as has already been said, busa is a fun event and counts for no selections. the likelihood of the 3 of them not finishing together had scott kept his map is pretty unlikely, but as it happened we'll never know. as it is, i believe scott truly deserves his busa medal.
The reward of a thing well done is to have done it.

quick question- how far had scott gone before he realised he had not got his map?
then-i know nothing is going to change now but i just wanted to say my bit:
firstly scott- i am well impressed you've been totally level headed about all this, i think as kitch said- you'll go far. (i can also remember a JIRC relay in the lakes when you crossed over a non-crossing point and said you hadn't though about it at the time and that you would accept disqualifiction if thats what was decided. )
it seems entirely probable that scott would have finished third anyway, but of course you can't say this for certain. for a busa race the result probably should have stood, given all the info (except the q. at the top), but what has been done is adhering to the rules and is typical of what the case would be at an event like the JK. this raises the quality and pedigree of busa as a race.

Pictures are better than words because sometimes words are big and hard to understand.
