All quiet in Dimrill Dale...
It's definitely too d*mn quiet...
I'm getting a steady trickle of supportive messages but there's been no response from BOF HQ at all.
Which is disappointing. It would be (I think) bad for orienteering as a whole if the Revised Proposal were to be voted on by the majority (ie postally) before any discussion takes place.
I'm a bit busy preparing 2004 accounts for audit at the moment, but I'm also taking a look at "Membership by Club" figures (yes, it's nerdy and dull...). I'm hoping it will give me a better feel for the range of Club sizes - and I'm also thinking about the impact the new scheme might have on clubs of various sizes.
For instance, how many senior members does a Club need to have before it can realistically consider mounting events at all?
How many members does it take to mount a Badge (oops, naughty word) event every year? (Note that a club that (say) mounts an event every second year will be heavily taxed in its zero-income years.)
And so on...
If BOF HQ continue with the Trappist tactic, I'm wondering about circulating material directly to Associations and or Clubs. Do you think that would be well-received? Or would it be seen as intrusive?
