Multi Days
OUOC are looking for a relatively cheap multi day at the beginning of summer for our tour this year? As a back up we can try and get sponsorship for the O ringen, but does anyone know any others out there? The Czech is a tad too late in summer.

The Swiss Federation on http://www.solv.ch/ have a very useful international calendar with hyperlinks into all the up and coming multi day events.

Best multiday around has to be the TAKAS 5 days in Lithuania in early July... have a look at http://www.scottishotours.co.uk
Best way to do it for students is to fly on Ryanair to Sweden (Malmo)... nip up to Karshalm & get the ferry across to Lithuania.....

What Sweden has to offer in late June / early July:
19/6 - 24/6 Idreveckan: 5 competitions and good training opportunities on the rest days. Very nice mountain (fjell)/pre-mountain terrain. Might be too expensive. Accomodation in cabins. Link: http://www.kart-bosse.se/
29/6 - 4/7 3+3 in Sälen: 3 days of competition + 3 days of training. Also very nice mountain (fjell)/pre-mountain terrain. Might be too expensive. Accomodation in cabins. Can easily be combined with "Idreveckan". Link: http://www.malungsok.com/arrangemang/3+3/annons_tavlingsprogram_2_skarm.pdf
2/7 - 4/7 Hallands 3-dagars (near Falkenberg): Good terrain by southern swedish standards. Nice beaches not very far away. Cheap camping near the event site. Probably the easiest and cheapest event to get to. Link: http://home.swipnet.se/~w-144429/startsida.htm
2/7 - 4/7 OK Milans 3-dagars (in Nora): Tough and genuine middle-swedish terrain. Cheap camping away from the event site. Link: http://www.okmilan.org/arrangemang/3dagars/inbjudan.pdf
2/7 - 11/7 Norrbottensveckan: 8 competitions in northern Sweden (pretty close to the polar circle = almost midnight sun). Not sure about what the terrain will be like, not bad I guess. No organised orienteering-camping that I know of. A looong way from the UK but maybe you could find a RyanAir flight? Link: ?
3/7 - 9/7 Gotlandspaketet: 2-days + Relay + 3-days on the island in the Baltic sea. Flat and very difficult terrain. Nice beaches and parties. Cheap camping near the event sites. if you can't find a cheap flight the trip to get there can be a hassle. Link: http://www.orienterapagotland.nu/start/
9/7 - 11/7 Eskilstuna 3-dagars: Pretty fast middle-swedish terrain with lots of contour-details. Probably the best bet for runners preparing for the WOC. Camping may be away from the event site. Link: http://www.eol.se/weekend/index.html

Looking at those maps I think I'd be well up for Lithuania - I'm guessing it's dirt cheap over there Gross? Not sure what the rest of the Oxford bunch would reckon to it though.

Becks, yeah try lithuania, actually i've never been myself but i've done world schools in estonia and latvia and the terrain was really really nice. plus the potential extra cost of getting there is made up for cos it's sooo cheap. well it was in 1995 amd 98 anyway. the czech 5 days is soo 1999 anyway.
did you enjoy the course on sunday? (i'm bored and was working hard but then i accidently closed a window on a literature search without saving anything and i can't be arsed to do it all again.)
hey you well put me off at no. 7 . look at the splits!! i was so busy trying to impress you by not falling over and finding the control really nicely that i screwed it up a bit.

Hmm...loved the area on Sunday but I just had no energy. I was flagging by the fourth control and feeling like i was on another planet so I thought I'd better have a week off this week. I drew my route on yesterday and I took some of the most random route choices I have ever seen. Don't want those Tabs anywhere near me at the Varsity!

Let me know how many might be interested in travelling??? At present I can get a group flight for around £160 rtn from Gatwick which is pretty good... once there you can do it for almost next to nothing if you camp... it'd be easy to arrange lifts etc & hitching is still very common.... come to the Elite Test & make pals with LTU:)

Where would that be flying to? I think it sounds like a great plan, how many do you need for a group flight deal gross? I'm gonna send an email round to see how much interest there is, just been looking at the fly/ferry option, seems a little complicated, I can't sus out the ferry companies website, but then ferry trips always add an extra quality to tours
