Does anyone know if there is a copy of the rules for the UK relay league anywhere online? Peel website is sometimes up to date with news on UK Cup, but I'm not sure I've ever seen UK Relay league info anywhere.
More specifically, can you run competitively for your closed club in one UK relay league event (e.g. BOC) and for your open club in another (e.g. JK)?

Nope, as far as i'm aware you can't run competitively for 2 clubs, the first club you run for is your competitive club unless declared non counting for ukrl.

i think it's the first club you run for in a uk relay league event, then if you run for another club they can't get uk relay league points for that race.
apart from the relay league there are some bof rules which i looked at in the autumn that made me realise i couldn't stay in NOC and be in CLYDE as a local member and compete for both eg in compass sport cup for one and relays for another. they are both open clubs tho, maybe it's ok if one is a closed club.

From the Elite Competitions Steering Group minutes from last June

UK Relays League
It was confirmed that athletes may run for only one club in one year and must be members of BOF.
Only BOF clubs would be awarded points.
This rule has been in place for a while - I remember Interlopers won the Harvester one year but were not given any UKRL points because somebody had already run for EUOC (I think)

The whole open/closed club needs tidying up:
You can only have one official closed club but there are two in existence I have the right to join (SPLOT/SWERVE). I'm sure there are other people who could be in many.
Perhaps like many in closed clubs I'd like to be in a local club too, but have that as a second club. I could join as a local member but this is hard work with many open clubs - easier to join as a BOF member. Joining closed clubs as a BOF member is also hard work at times, as many have local clubs as first choice clubs. Therefore you do it the easy way around and keep coming up as your "local" club whenever you enter anything.
Your closed club has to be tied to a region, so despite me living in the east midlands now, I continue to get Welsh news. Nice to keep up on the old stopming ground but not so helpful with fixture lists etc.
OK whinging over - time for a sensible question. What we have at current is inconsistent. Should the concept of closed clubs be removed? You can have one and only one main club which can have membership closed or open within its constitution. You may only compete competitively for that club in that year. You can, as now, join as many clubs as you want as a local member. Thoughts?

You can be in as many clubs as you like, but after the first two (one open/one closed), you just can't tell BOF (i.e. as a "local member" only) - I was a paid-up member of KNOB O.C. (first club, closed), LOC (second club, open) and UNOC (closed) for a few years, with the first two of those on my BOF card. I occasionally entered local events in the NE as UNOC, particularly if I was travelling with a group.
according to BOF rules you can be in one open and one closed club, and can run for either of them (but not both at the same time!) in any competitions
the uk relay league rules are in line with scandinavian rules where you're only allowed to run for one club in each calendar year

I'm not sure it's that silly and it's common enough in other sports, like being cup-tied in football. I think it is better to have a team that sticks together for the whole season and makes the effort to get to all the races rather than having people swapping to whichever team is most convenient at the time.

That's not really what I thought was silly. It's just the rules about closed/open seem a bit lengthy.
But at least it's not like athletics where you have to apply to a committee, who carefully consider whether to let you change clubs, generally you serve a ban where you can't compete for anyone then if you forget to wear your club vest your team still gets disqualified. I got a team disqualified once even tho i wore a club vest AND hadn't run for my old club for about 2 years, then realised the problem applied to the "hardship committee" they were like "yeah ok" but still made me serve another month of ban presumably just to exert their power.
