Google isn't showing me any running tracks in lichfield although there is obviously a well established running club (mainly cross country and road - wonder if they wear shorts) Running round the rugby club itself might be possible - but not very fair as it is vaguely terraced - let mw know if you want to prusue this.

We obviously made the right choice to have runner 3 doing only 16 intervals then

Re: Edinburgh 10,000m world record attempt
The spring preparations have gone well and we are all set to go on Monday, although we have currently raised less than half of what we did in 2005.
Please support, if you can!

The Squad Support fund is independent of British Orienteering and was set-up (pre Lottery funding days) to help athletes both in and out of the British Squad achieve their goals. Ann Smith and Jason Inman are in charge of the fund, which currently has almost no income (other fund raising initiatives welcomed!). I for one have benefited from their support over the years and want to make sure that the future generation have the support that i had.

Re: Edinburgh 10,000m world record attempt
Thanks for the plug about the fund Scott and also your fundraising efforts. Hope all goes well on Monday - don't break Ackers!
The fund's title is: Athlete Support Fund - it sits independently of BO and the squad so the group can direct the raised funds effectively. This year we paid out over £10,000 to support potential WOC team athletes and bids from organised groups.
Well, it is a HOME WOC YEAR
And we sincerely hope we can continue providing support for the next generation of athletes in the years to come.

BOF-buffs
BOF have now given us a couple of British Champs buffs for the best guess at winning time.
Well, strictly I asked them to donate my juror's expenses at BMSOC but it was too complicated to get actual money so BAOC gave me buffs instead.
But hey - you can't have too many BOF-buffs, and you have to be in it to win it!

Not long to go now - the big attempt is this evening!
So if you haven't yet donated, now is the perfect time

26:48, one second outside Mo Farah's British record. Over £1,250 raised so far dont be shy to sign up late to support our team at WOC.
Thanks to everyone who sponsored us, and turned out on a cool Edinburgh evening to support, and good luck to scotia, rocky and the rest of the GB team for WOC2015.
Closest guess at the time was by "anonymous", with a whiff of coconut suggesting some dodgy insider trading.

Well done chaps - just donated my illicit winnings from BOC (are you allowed to bet on orienteering events?).
Still time to donate via the link in graeme's post!!

Re: Edinburgh 10,000m world record attempt
Thanks for the support everyone and thanks for those who came along on the night to help with timekeeping and cheer us on!
On a pleasant summers evening in Edinburgh Graeme Ackland, Murray Strain and Scott Fraser ran 26:48 and were joined by a 'young team' of James Ackland, Alex and Freddy Carcas who ran 27:19. I doubt we will beat them if we do it again in 10 years time.
We have currently raised £1320 which has been sent to the Athlete Support Fund. Guy Goodair (26:45) and Graeme Ackland (26:46) were the lucky GB top winners...complaints for insider trading will be received at the Scottish Orienteering Champs this weekend
