And while I'm waiting for the tea to cook - Lord Fred your February copy of what is probably the world's finest club magazine is even as we speak on it's way to you. It contains a hefty plug for nopesport (including a hefty health warning for readers of a nervous disposition) Perhaps you could make sure Samsonite and the rest of the nope board get sight of it - looking forward to receiving my T shirt

I think it has been done in the past, certainly been one or two at the NOC (i don't know why i remember this - i wasn't there! (honest)) while I know my home club INVOC has been putting on events aimed at the ladies every few months with a wee tea & cake session afterwards. Maybe not very relevant to the younger generation mind you... teashops haven't gone amiss at SEDS tho!

if you want to break this trend then your going to have to work against thousands and thousands of years of evolution....
im sure the lure of prizes will get people into the sport. speaking to my flatmate Kiril, they had a 5000 euro prize for the bulgarian sprint champs. bulgaria isnt exactly a rich country is it...

I think there is a serious problem with the number of juniors, both boys and girls, in the east of Scotland at least.
I've had a quick scan through the results from our event on Corstorphine on Sunday andthere wasn't a single M12, 14 or 16 and just a handful of girls
I don't know what the problem, or solution, to this is but the issue needs to be addressed.

steve-o have another word about the JDO at the next ESOA meeting as I've heard nothing about it and EUOC's possible involvement and from the past 2 meetings they were going to get in touch...

Bit behind the times, but what do our female juniors think about girls only weekends? Would they add to your enjoyment of the sport? My coaching qualifications should be done by the end of the summer and if the demand is there, I'd happily run some.
Will? We've got proper fire now!

i dont agree with the idea of girls only training weekends. i think girls can learn a lot from training with guys and the guys can learn a lot from us. a group of girls and guys will all have different approaches which are not specific to their gender. i have learnt a lot from guys in the junior squad like speakey and murray. having said that though having a little part of a weekend in which the girls can talk or do a trainig exercise togather could be good because in group work/exercises often the guys are more dominant.
it's all fun

I think the girls only approach is probably more useful amongst us older women - you younger girls (in yer pink T shirts) don 't need to have your confidence boosted - or conversely be shielded from the men who frequently expect to take the dominant role - not that I personally have that problem - but I know plenty (and I mean plenty) who would find it a problem to put a man in his place

What does everyone else reckon? I agree with M in that once you get to sqaud level a mixed approach is really appropriate, but what about the younger bunch? And Mrs H - I'm only in Oxford and would be happy to put on an oldies (pardon the expression but I think you used it yourself!) training day or weekend once I'm qualified. Let me know!

It's a very generous offer Becks, thank you very much. We have a new lady coach in our club whom I expect will offer some ladies only coaching but I'm sure there are plenty of clubs out there would like to avail themselves of your services - perhaps you could carve yourself a niche in the market. I am actually quite proud of my oldie status and am taking my work as nope veteran goodwill envoy seriously. when my new T shirt arrives my many fans in the M60+ age group will be very impressed
