Well people, tis the time of year to be thinking about standing as a BOF councillor again. Nominations have to be in by February the third, so acting fast is required.
I've been in touch with Bob Roach a lot recently, and he has said that it would be good to have a councillor who was either a Junior (you must be over 18 to stand so it'd have to be an M/W20) or a young adult on the Council.
In his own words, "the key commitment is attending BOF Council 3 times per year (Saturdays, currently Birmingham). The practice in recent years (not essential) is that in addition 2 Councillors attend Management Meetings at BOF Office 5 times a year on
weekdays and the other 2 attend development Committe 3 times per year at York."
We have to ask fast to get nominations in. I will stand for the position if no one else wants to, but if there's anyone else interested then let me know, and I'll tell you more details.
No BOF bashing in this thread please! We're trying to make a change!

Go for it Becks you've done a great job being the ears of the juniors and getting their opinion. That is as long as you will have the time and are able to get to B'ham. Are you not going to the burgh soon.
Diets and fitness are no good if you can't read the map.

Having attended Council in various capacities over the years, I think you'd make a brilliant Councillor. Wish there were more like you, especially amongst the reps from the associations. As Hocolite says, go for it - just don't let it bog you down; it's easy to get dragged in to things when you need to stand back and take an overview.

Well thanks guys - I'll e mail Bob and tell him I'll stand. Not sure whether you guys can second by email or not as there's not time to post the form around - will let you know! If not I'm sure I can find some willing OUOC mug to do it here (you know I love you guys!).
And El, there's four places for councillors.
