5 DAYS in AVEYRON - FRANCE
It’s official, the french summer orienteering meeting for all runners is launched.
The different races will take place on the legendary “plateau du Larzac”, between the 9th July and the 14th July. This Templar Land, high place of french history is now near all European countries with the “Viaduc de Millau”.
This place is 5 hours drive from Paris by motorway ( A75) and Mediterranean Sea is only one hour far from there.
Thierry Georgiou (World Champion) says that this land gives some of the most technical maps in the world, on the CO News Web Site.
We are waiting for you on this great meeting.

There'a a sample map here:

An hour inland of the south coast sounds hot. Could still be tempted by the Baltic bits if Stodges feet get fixed in time....

you got it gillian, randonnee it is. as far as i can tell they tend to be longer and simpler than a standard long course, and perhaps involve carrying camelbak.
i ran one before christmas (Rand'O du Castor) which was essentially a mass start 23km orienteering race - 2h20 winning time. It wasn't in the most technical terrain. And many (not so competitive) competitiors were not regular orienteers. There's an advertising/introductory/publicity (what's the english for "vulgarisation"?) side to these events too.

just as random as Rand-O, it is possible to enter the Open 100 at the Kapa 3-Day in Latvia - those people weighing more than 100kg!
OPEN-100 100 kg and more 3.5-4.5 km

not sure, but do u reckon they'd have a set of scales at the start to prevent people speed-dieting after the entries have closed.
